Hamilton: The Exhibition was an immersive museum experience that opened in Chicago in April 2019. Inspired by the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” which tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and his role in the country’s early history, the exhibit featured interactive displays, multimedia presentations, and historical artifacts that gave visitors a deeper understanding of the time period.
In addition to showcasing the production’s music and costumes, the exhibit explored the themes and ideas that underpinned the musical. These included the American Revolution, the founding of the United States, and the role of immigration in shaping American identity. The exhibition also delved into the events that shaped Hamilton’s life and career.
As part of this project, I had the opportunity to work on the St. Croix room. My responsibilities included contributing to the graphics and design of the interactive map display behind the scale model. The map illustrates the historical events depicted in the play, and I collaborated with the animation team to create a dynamic and immersive experience for visitors. The map is projected onto a physical map mounted on the wall, and the projection animates to show the progression of events throughout the time period represented.
The St. Croix room was a part of Hamilton: The Exhibition, an immersive museum experience inspired by the Broadway musical “Hamilton.” It was named after the island of St. Croix in the Caribbean Sea, where Alexander Hamilton was born and spent his childhood.
